Silly (Harlequin) x Fudge (broken Chocolate) Mini Rex Litter D

Mini Rex Silly and Fudge’s litter is growing up nice. I think the one REW (only buck in the litter) is the nicest home bred yet !!

I’m keeping that one for the National Convention. The Castor has Harli marking on her belly – not showable. But I’m keeping her because of her small ears for my broken Tri program.

The broken Chocolate doe doesn’t have a butterfly – darn it !!! So not showable.

Opal x Castor Mini Rex Litter

Jack my Opal Mini Rex (A-B-C-ddEe) and CupCake my Castor Mini Rex (A-B-C-Dd-Ee) had a litter of 7 babies !!

Before this breeding Jacks Phenotype I assumed to be A-B-C-ddE- but now that his 7 babies with CupCake have arrived I believe his code is now AaBbC-ddEe although not 100% certain (still learning alleles here) but as I pick apart each color location I should be able to fill in the blanks.

Here are pictures of the 7. Maybe one of you can help me with colors and alleles ? Thanks.

John and Jill’s Kits 28 days old

Ahh the Maniac Litter is growing up !!! I took some pictures again today. I play with them everyday on the table grooming and all and check to see if I can tell male from female yet.

This morning I noticed 3 of the bunnies (Little John is one of them) have smeared behinds. Like diarrhea or something but I don’t see any in the litter box. I cleaned them up but them don’t seem themselves all active and running around this morning. The 4th bunny is acting normal with no smeared behind. The only thing I can think of is last night for supper I made chicken noodle soup and while the bunnies were hanging out in the kitchen with me I gave them some celery bottoms, they didn’t eat it all but did eat some. I hope they are ok.

Here are some pictures of this morning. It appears Little John isn’t a Little John the more I check his privates, his parts are different than the other 3, I think he’s a girl.

How do they look ?

I also started The Rabbit Hole discussion forum – a place where beginners like me and experts can communicate, learn and teach one and other all about rabbits.

I decided to start The Rabbit Hole forums because I like to post pictures, video’s and just share everything about my rabbits and ask alot of questions. I noticed on some forums I’m either shunned or am considered a spammer with all my blog posts and pictures I share. I figure the only way to remedy this is to create a forum so I and others like myself can share all the pictures and video we like of our rabbits and of course to learn and communicate without hesitation.

Just wanted to share !!

John and Jill’s babies at 19 days old.

They are getting so big so fast I think. Today is day 21, but the pictures I post below will be of day 19.

Jill is such a good mom and John contributed to the cuteness and care of his babies.

Of the 4 babies I will be keeping one, the smallest, that resembles John the most. I tried to sex them again but they still all appear to be boys to me. Ha Ha Sexing is hard.

Here they are: how do they look ?

And of course little John. This is the one I’m keeping for my breeding program and to show in February 2013. If local and interested in one or all of the other 3, let me know. They will be ready to go when 8 weeks old. $7.00 each. Sex still unknown.

John and Jill’s kits 10 days old. (pictures)

Today Jill and John’s kits are 11 days old and doing very well. I took some pictures of them individually yesterday.

At this point I think (not sure this is all new to me) there are 3 boys and one girl. The smallest and my favorite being the girl. I will probably not know for sure till they are 6 or so weeks old but to inspect and guess is for when picking out names for my Rabbitry Records.

I would like to pick at least one for the Show coming up in February 2013,  see where my first litter of bunnies takes me in the Judges eyes.

Beings these two parents John and Jill are not pedigreed – this litter of bunnies will be the first generation listen on my Rabbitry Records and the start of my 4 generation pedigree for this bloodline. This is so exciting !!

Here are some pictures of the Maniac litter – how do they look ? They are 10 days old in these pictures I took yesterday.

Jill and John’s kits are 8 days old !!

John and Jill’s baby bunnies are growing up nicely.  Absolutely Jill is a good mother. She had 4 kits and 4 are still alive. I read on a website usually first time mom rabbits don’t take care of their young or at least 1/2 the kits don’t survive. Jill had 4 kits and 4 kits are alive still. YAY !!

I named them the Maniac litter because they act like maniacs. Although for my rabbit records I’m going to use the letter “z” to name them. I didn’t sex them yet I figure wait till day 14 or 16 to do that as one website mentions.

Starlights 4 kits did die. 3 died the night of day 2 and the 3rd kit died the morning of day 3.  Darn it.

I’m thankful Jill’s 4 kits are well and active, I look forward to seeing them grow up and picking one to show. I do have an idea of which one but I’m sure you can tell until they are at least 6 weeks old.

Here’s a picture of the maniacs on day 7. They are so darling !!
